See Sydney’s Highlights

Where does one begin when visiting Australia’s most popular city? Sydney is jam-packed head to toe with spectacular attractions and activities, scattered about in the glorious harbour, beachfront, and city region. After a weekend’s visit to the emerald city, I’ve discovered the best spots to head to make your holiday worth it.

Visit the spectacular Harbour

No visit to Sydney would be complete, nevertheless impossible, without a visit to the spectacular Harbour. Home to glittering sapphire waters and incredible waterfront restaurants and bars, the Harbour is a central hub for both locals and tourists alike. But one of the biggest draws for the harbor is the iconic landmarks nestled within, including the famed Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Although it might be overdone, seeing these spectacular attractions is well worth the unoriginal tourist activity, as the stunning architecture of both marvels you up close. Head around the harbor for a chance to see these sights from a range of angles, even taking a harbor cruise for a truly unique view.

Shop ‘til you drop at the Sydney Markets

Held in the historic Rocks region of the city, Sydney Markets is held on Saturdays and Sundays. Providing more than 200 stalls that sell an array of art, souvenirs, jewellery, clothing, and homewares. The markets also offer a broad range of foods, from fresh produce hot foods. Letting visitors fuel up for the day with a coffee and bacon-and-egg roll before starting their shopping spree and sightseeing adventure!

Surf at Bondi Beach

Eight kilometres away from the city center is Sydney’s beloved Bondi beach, famed throughout the world for being one of the top beaches around. Bondi is renowned for its laidback chic lifestyle, flanked by chiller surfers, trendy restaurants, and boutique shops. There is a whole menu of things you can get stuck into, whether you hit the waves and surf with the locals or simply sunbake the day away. I suggest spending an afternoon here to enjoy a late lunch or dinner amidst the fantastic waterfront restaurants. I went on the Sydney Half Day Tour with Bondi Beach, which gave me both a city and beach adventure!

Travel up 250 metres to get some of the best views of the city! Offering 360-degrees of Sydney’s spectacular landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and even the Blue Mountains beyond! One of the best times to travel up is during the sunset, as the orange glow lights up the harbor and gleaming skyscrapers.

No matter what time you visit Sydney, it's guaranteed to have at least one exciting event on. Ranging from musical, to art, to cultural, there is no category that the city misses, catering for even the fussiest traveler. If you are traveling during January, the Sydney Festival is filled with theater performances, musicals, concerts, exhibitions, and even artistic workshops. In May to June, the Vivid Sydney takes over the winter nights, lighting up significant landmarks within the city with a range of glittery lights. I traveled during the month of October, which let me discover the incredible Night Noodle Market, a wonderful event offering music, drinks and a range of mouth-watering Asian Food.
