Secret Solo Travels

By Asoloaffair @a_solo_affair

solo travel I want to be the kind of lady that just jets away for the weekend – solo.  And last Friday I did just that!  I booked the day off work, woke up like any ordinary morning but instead of going to work, I went straight to the airport and jumped on a plane!

It was all very exciting; I’ve never traveled alone before and no one knew where I was! (I told a few white lies to make it happen) So when I stepped off the airplane in Montreal I truly felt alive. I spent my weekend strollin’ around the city, drinking Americanos, people watching, reading, writing and practicing my atrocious French.

While I was there, on a whim, I walked into a salon and chopped off my bangs. Afterwards, I spent the afternoon sitting in le café eating pie and looking out the window grinning like a fool. This weekend made me fall in love with my life a little bit more…

I have two more solo trips booked over the course of this year and I can’t believe I haven’t done it sooner! Have you ever taken a solo vacation ? Did you love it!? If you’re interested, I’d recommend checking out SoloFriendly‘s amazing website for some insightful tips on vacationing alone.

A funny story:

I did Airbnb while away and stayed in a cozy French apartment. In the middle of my first night the fire alarm went off. The sheer panic that pumped through my veins almost gave me a heart attack! I jumped out of bed and raced for the door, franticly trying to unlock the deadbolts before I realized that I was about to run out of the apartment in my underwear! I clearly don’t have luck with fire alarms, eh?

PS:  fausse alerte!
