The Valachchenai Police received a complaint that five fishermen had gone missing along with a boat which had gone to sea from the Trincomalee Cordway Fishing Port. Police say that the boat left Cordway Fishing Port on June 10.
The group of fishermen who are residents of Saindumarudu, Karthiv, Adappala, Kalmuna Kudi and Vellavali had sailed in the boat bearing KLT number IMULA 0219.
A senior officer of the Valachchena Police stated that the Sri Lankan Navy has been informed about the disappearance of the group of fishermen and a search operation has been launched for them.
