With 2018’s San Diego Comic Con coming to a close, what’s in store for the cast of Arrow?
A lot, apparently.
Arrow stars Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes, Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy, Rick Gonzales and executive producers Beth Schwartz took to the stage Saturday to give fans an up close and personal look of the upcoming season.
The cast gave some updates regarding their characters in season seven, with Amell saying Oliver Queen’s situation is probably at its worst, “He’s in prison with people he put in prison.”
“The coolest thing about the premiere for me is… there’s nothing about him that’s heroic at all. If you’re a fan of the character and you root for the character, I really hope the premiere pisses you off,” he added. “I really enjoy it. There’s one scene in particular in the premiere where what Oliver does is reprehensible.”
Felicity Smoak hasn’t fared any better. Rickards described her character as “Alone. Scared. I think just like Oliver is watching his back, she’s tired of watching hers and she’s going to take some action.”
As for Team Arrow, they’re just trying to carry out Oliver’s instructions.
“I think that’s going to be the crux of the season, seeing how Rene interprets Oliver’s instructions,” Gonzales shared.
“Hopefully she can get a little bit of work done on the other side of the law,” Harkavy said of Dinah Drake/Black Canary.
“Curtis is just chilling. He’s taking in the city and falling in love. We’re all still trying to do the best we can for Star City,” Kellum said.
“Diggle’s dead,” Ramsey joked. “Diggle’s with A.R.G.U.S.”
Probably the most interesting character update has been for Haynes’ Roy Harper. “He’s not the same person,” he said. “It’s going to be very, very interesting. That’s all I can say. Beth did — she’s a genius, so she wrote me a version of the character that just was so special. It’s going to be hard for me to do, but I’m going to be happy to do it. I’m so excited to come back.”
We also got some casting news:
“They were mentioned in the finale of Season 6, and we have three Longbow Hunters coming, working with Diaz. We’ve got Red Dart. We have Kodiak. And we have the Silencer,” Schwartz announced. Bronze Tiger, Derek Sampson and Danny “Brick” Brickwell will also appear.
Holly Elissa will play Red Dart, Michael Jonsson is Kodiak and Miranda Edwards as Silencer. All are seasoned killers.
As for this year’s crossover event, Schwartz said, “We’re still working on the first half of the season, so we haven’t gotten to the crossover.”
