Scrimshaw’s Last Post

Book swims to the surface

Those of you who have followed the progress of the Scrimshaw group will know that it has not been an altogether easy road. In many ways this little book ‘Jonah:poet in extremis’ has been written in extremis. It is fashioned of verbal steel smelted in the hardest of times and hammered out on the anvil of adversity.

The time has now come for it to see the light of day. Since the print route was encumbered by all sorts of obstacles, I have opted instead to publish directly to kindle. Much though I love the frisson of unpacking a box of my own books and holding one in my hand, it is not what really matters. My aim in writing the book was to rescue Jonah from the realms of the children’s nursery and to see it for the challenging adult tale which it is. The book features a spectacular cover by Jonny Gallant of Alban Books, and artwork from James Robinson and Natalia Luptova. I recommend it – but then again, I would, wouldn’t I?
