Sunday night saw a glittering party as the third annual Scottish Italian Awards announced it’s winners.
Awards such as “Best Pizza”  and“Best Wine List” were celebrated at The Glasgow City Hotel.    Over 65,000 votes were cast across the 16 categories open for public vote this year, and shortlisted finalists were then visited and independently judged by a panel of industry experts.  The event was again hosted by comedian Des Clarke and stars including  the Alberti Twins, judge and patron to the event Aldo Zilli, lawyer and business woman Nancy Dell’Ollio and X Factor 2014 runner up Andrea Faustini joined to celebrate.
Winners this year from the East include our first female best chef champion Daniela Di Marco from Osteria in North Berwick, judged by celebrity Chef Aldo Zilli and a panel of judges at a cook off earlier this month. Osteria will also walk away with our Best restaurant (under 50 seats) prize.
Warren Paul, CEO and founder of the event said “in just 3 years we have built an event that Italians across Scotland want to be attached to. All our finalists deserve to be there, and with over1000 venues competing this year just getting to the final is a huge achievement”.
He added “The Italian Awards are delighted to once again recognize businesses that are quickly becoming staples in Scottish Italian culture; we aim to create a platform to showcase and highlight Italian cuisine, businesses and Italian history. This year sees a lot of new blood to the competition, and the competition has been the fiercest yet, and I’m very excited to see so many deserving winners”
