Scotland has launched a £1.4billion plan to slash its carbon emissions.
The Scottish Government said it will do everything it can to meet its climate change targets, including reducing its carbon emissions by 80% by 2030.
The First Minister, Alex Salmond, said he would be doing more to support the development of the offshore wind sector and the rest of the renewables industry.
The Minister for Environment and Climate Change Paul Wheelhouse said: ""We are taking strong action on renewables, zero waste, peatlands and tackling fuel poverty with ambitious new plans to decarbonise production of electricity and heat.
“We are already more than halfway to meeting our 2020 target of 42 per cent, and remain on trajectory to achieve it.
“Scotland is at the top of the European league table for emissions reductions and is recognised for leading the way across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world in tackling climate change."
A spokesperson from The Eco Experts said: “Now targets have been defined, the renewables industry can grow and do more to help Scotland meet its climate change target.
“Setting a clear and definitive target is important to encourage investment and to develop growth. Scotland and the whole of the UK need to do all they can to reduce the amount of carbon we produce.
“Not only will this help the environment, and perhaps slow down global climate change, it will also help us ensure a protected and secure energy supply, which we will need as fossil fuels run low.”
