Nobody said raising children is easy. The most we can hope for is that our children grow up to be good people - mentschen. They will be independent and at some point will choose their own paths. We, more often than not, cannot control that. And at times they will choose paths different, even very different, than the path in which they were raised. It happens in the best of families, and in the most prestigious of families.
Half a year ago, the grandson of Rav Tuvia Weiss, the Gaavid of the Eida Hachareidis, decided to joint he IDF. He servers in Magav - the Border Police. After he went to the IDF draft, Weiss was thrown out of his home and banished from his family. This also led to his becoming not fum and brought an end to his singing career in the community of extremists.
Ynet reports that he says from a younger age he already had such thoughts, and as a result was married off very young. marriage is often used as a tool to keep people on the straight and narrow, and it seems to have been used for that purpose with Weiss. It didn't work, though it took some time. He and his wife left the frum community, and then they got divorced.
It sounds like he has a fascinating story, surely with a lot of pain (and his family probably went through a lot of painful moments as well).
