Sights of Canberra
The past 2 weeks have been school holidays here in Melbourne. I decided it was long overdue to take some time off and take my kids away on holiday.
Over the 2 weeks we drove over 5000kms, our first stop was Canberra where my parents live. While we were there we went to Floriade (an annual spring exhibition of many tulips and other spring bulbs), where the kids learned some circus skills – stilt walking and plate spinning, and also visited the new Arboretum which has an amazing collection of bonsai plants and a playground that looks like it’s made from acorns.
Queensland fun
Then we drove up the east coast of Australia via Sydney to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland where we met up with my partner and his 3 kids and stayed with his Dad.
There were days on the beach, kids boogie boarding and playing in the sand. A day at Movie World, the zoo and we also climbed Mount Coolum. The kids enjoyed the wild life, which wasn’t just in the zoo, but everywhere we went we saw lizards, bush turkeys and they loved to feed Kooka the Kookaburra who comes each day to the back deck of the house to be fed.
