And in fairness to this guy which I am about to detail in a while, his language learning abilities gave him a sure ticket to go to college.

As posted by Eve Newman in a certain news site, a high school senior in the person of Kegan Cochrane received a scholarship to Michigan State University. His mother even describes such opportunity as “winning a lottery”.

Cochrane, along with the other six students in his state received a scholarship to go to college in MSU. There was actually a donor that well-supported the finances of the privileged students, which actually has been a mysterious financer since the reports fail to reveal the name of the financer at all. Cochrane thinks that the ones who will allow him to study are, since he said that they are many. “I’m pretty sure they’re alumni of MSU, and I’m pretty sure they live in Wyoming, but beyond that, I don’t know anything else about them,” he said.

Indeed, Cochrane’s ability to speak lots of foreign languages has brought him to this opportunity. He is actually articulate with 10 different languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Tagalog and Greek. And “at a World Language Day competition at the University of Northern Colorado in April, Cochrane placed first in extemporaneous speaking for non-native French speakers. Participants had two minutes to prepare a two-to-three minute speech. He also placed first in the individual talent competition in Chinese.”

No wonder he was given with such momentous opportunity.

For someone who has a great potential with anything, he can really go far. With hard work from the God-given skills and talents—as of Kegan Cochrane, about language learning—he can go far as well.
