Attending the Edwards AFB Open House is always a treat due to the unique aircraft that can be encountered there. Also known as White Knight One, this jet-powered Burt Rutan creation gained fame as the carrier aircraft for the successful SpaceShipOne program during their campaign to win the X-Prize. This close-up shows the mission markings on the fuselage. During its post X-Prize career, this aircraft was used for drop tests of the Boeing X-37 spaceplane (designated by the lower row of markings) Nikon D70s w/ 35-70mm, processed with Aperture.
