Samsung has announced two variants of their latest two-in-one convertible notebooks, and they are calling it the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen. One of the model comes with a 13.3-inch screen, while the other boasts of a bigger 15-inch display.
As you might have already guessed, the word 'Pen' in the product name refers to the S Pen, which comes bundled with the convertibles and can be slotted into the body of the notebook when not in use. The manufacturer claims it to be the most advanced version of the Pen, resulting in lesser lag and hence an improved performance over the previous version. Three different Pen tips are available, and there is no need to charge it to use it.
Powered by Intel 8 th Gen Core i7 processor, the all-metal body of the notebook is made up of aluminum. The graphics are generated from an Nvidia GeForce MX150 card (15-inch variant only). Connectivity options include 802.11ac Wi-Fi, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and one USB-C port. The 54 Watt-hour battery supports fast charging, and the company claims a backup of up to 15 hours per charge.
The Samsung Notebook 9 Pen is a two-in-one convertible, meaning it can be used as a laptop or as a tablet (by folding it around the 360-degree hinge). What is disappointing is the use of Full HD displays, when the competition is already providing 4K displays on laptops and convertibles. The thin side bezels are a welcome move nonetheless.
The keyboard is backlit for easy usage in the dark. A fingerprint sensor and an HD IR camera are provided to authenticate the users. AKG stereo speakers pump out the audio on the notebook, and they come supported with the smart amplifier technology.
Both the variants of the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen will be released in 2019. Their pricing will be announced later, possibly after they are displayed at the CES in Las Vegas next year.
