Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series last month, but unlike previous years, the ultra premium model was far different from the entry-level variant. They, of course, are supported by the same chipset and share many internal components, but they are also fundamentally different in terms of design and other fields. After all, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the first cellphone in the S series to fully adopt a pen through dedicated sarongs, built-in. But regardless of their clear differences, Galaxy S22 and Ultra S22 are equally difficult to repair.
Teardown recently done by iFixit has given us a closer look at the internal components of the Galaxy S22 and Ultra S22. As in previous years, new flagship phones used a strong adhesive to keep the glass panels and batteries stay in place. So, although many internal components can be replaced using a simple screwdriver, to these components in the first place is a difficult and time consuming process that causes a high risk of damaging the glass panel. Not to mention the battery is glued to the position and does not have a pull tab. Samsung is sure to be holding fast to tradition.
So, then, with a 3/10 repair score released by iFixit, Galaxy S22 and Ultra S22 are not worst offenders, but they are also not too friendly to DIY-ers. You will need a hot gun, filling tool, and suction cups to even try to dismantle this new cellphone safely. Even then, you might be lucky and damage the glass panel.
Whereas for internal hardware, the Teardown video below offers a closer look on the new cooling system used by Ultra Galaxy S22, as well as an enhanced haptic feedback machine, camera module – including a perisscop style lens – s gloves from inside, and much more.
Look at these components in the video below and tell us your thoughts. And if you are more interested in the user experience rather than hardware components that make Galaxy S22 and Ultra S22 tick, don’t hesitate to check videos and reviews below.
