If you thought that Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge or are awesome devices, then the news is that their predecessors are already here with the promise to deliver better functionality, performance and user experience. Yes, Samsung recently announced a global launch Galaxy S6 Edge + and Galaxy Note 5. The arrival of these smartphones in different markets across the world may vary but they are expected to start selling everywhere from August 2015.

Talking about these two smartphones, JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics said, "At Samsung, we believed in the promise that large screen smartphones could actively address some major consumers pain points by providing users with a better viewing experience and more productivity on-the-go. With the launch of the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note5, we're reemphasizing our ongoing commitment to bold, fearless innovation that meets the needs of our consumers."

While Galaxy S6 Edge + features a curved display on both edges, Note 5 has a straight display but a curved and easy to hold back. But besides some basic differences, these two smartphones have much in common. Both are equipped with 4GB RAM and are available in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options. Both have 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Both have Octa core (2.1GHz Quad + 1.5GHz Quad), 64 bit, 14 nm processor and will be LTE Cat.9 / LTE Cat.6 capable in most markets. Both these smartphones are powered by 3,000mAh battery, Fast Charging both on wired and Wireless Charging compatible with WPC and PMA. Galaxy S6 Edge + and Note 5 are both equipped with 16MP OIS (F1.9) rear camera and 5MP (F1.9) front camera.

Besides these specification, the two smartphones have some common features too. But let's talk about their specialties now.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + : S6 Edge has a 5.1" display. S6 Edge + has bigger 5.7" display. The bigger display with the curved edges makes for a more immersive experience while watching videos or reading and allows easier handling of the functions of the edges. The edges include some new features including Apps Edge which makes it easier to access favourite apps, and People Edge which makes it quicker to connect with favorite contact. In short, the edges don't just make the device look beautiful. They have useful features too.

Galaxy Note 5: Note 5 assures a more refined and more effective S Pen capabilities to better help in the multitasking and S Pen use. It has been designed to ergonomically fit into the palm, despite its phablet size. Its flat display makes it easy to write with the S Pen while its slightly curved back ensures more comfortable holding of the device. The S Pen has been made to feel more solid and balanced in hand and it can pop out of its slot with just one click. It can also be used to jot down quick notes even on a sleeping or black display. The Air Command feature has been upgraded too with more intuitive enhancements. Other S Pen capabilities include annotation of PDF files and capturing of lengthy webpages using the Scroll Capture feature.

Let's now come back to the similarities once again and briefly take a look at the features that both S6 Edge + and Note 5 possess.

Samsung Pay: Samsung Pay is virtually anywhere mobile payment service of Samsung that is expected to launch in Korea on August 20 and in US on September 28. This mobile payment system will be protected by Samsung KNOX, fingerprint verification and digital tokenization and it will work with MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) as well as NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies. Both S6 Edge + and Note 5 are Samsung Pay capable.

Video Capabilities: Both the smartphones boast of having improved video capabilities through features like Steady Video (with Video Digital Image Stabilization on both cameras) and Video Collage Mode (record and edit short videos in various frames and effects). Both the phones also have 4K(UHD) video filming and Live Broadcast while allows live streams of Full HD video straight from the phone to any chosen individual or group of contacts. Live Broadcast can even be used for public broadcast through YouTube Live.

Camera Features: Both Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 boast of possessing Samsung's advanced camera system. The features include Quick Launch (quickly launch the camera by double clicking home key), Auto Real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Smart Optical Image Stabilization(OIS) and some new filters.

Charging: Both Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 are capable of fast wired and wireless charging technology which is compatible with any wireless pad available today. Both the smartphones can get fully charged in approximately 90 minutes through wired charging and in 120 minutes using Samsung's latest wireless charger

SideSync: This feature allows S6 Edge + and Note 5 the ability to establish wireless and wired PC-smartphone integration.

KNOX Security: Samsung's Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 come equipped with KNOX Active Protection (built into devices / out of the box) and My KNOX (app with simple/fast setup) to enable the users to protect their device and data.

Both the devices will be available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium colour options. Their date of launch in different countries may vary, as also the price. I don't yet know what they will be priced in India. But these are premium device and so wouldn't be cheap. I will update as soon as I get price details.

As of now, the devices definitely look tempting.
