Opening with a burst of ‘Waterloo Sunset’-inspired guitar, Sam Evian’s latest single ‘IDGAF’ – the opener to his upcoming second album ‘You, Forever’ (Saddle Creek) – is a song about embracing one’s passions and interests, no matter how hard it is to do. Its dreamy tone combines with Wilco-esque heartache as Sam laments the fact ‘I don’t care enough to care anymore’. All of the songs on the record have been recorded without tuning pedals, which just adds to their classic feel and the sunny disposition in the instrumentation of ‘IDGAF’ is no exception, although the lyrics show that anxiety and insecurities are always at the heart of Sam’s work.
