Story: Saloum starts as Chaka (Gael), Rafa (Sallah) and Minuit (Ba) extract a drug lord Felix (Farah) from Guinea Bissau. They look to fly over the border but find themselves trapped in the Saloum region in Senegal.

As the group look to adapt to a small village to hide, they learn about evil in the mystical region. The group need to find a way out before they become the latest victims of this creature’s attacks first through their own hearing.

Verdict on Saloum

Saloum is a horror thriller that follows a group of African mercenaries as they take shelter in a small village. It shows how they adapt to the terror which uses our own hearing as a means to attack the victim.

This is such an original and unique threat when it comes to evil in horror. It feels more like the opposite of ‘Bird Box’ where if you can hear it can’t attack. The effects are used extremely well to create the creature we see, as they would be genuinely terrifying to run into.

As for the performances, they are all great throughout the film, where the characters must work together to overcome the problems they face. This is a horror that will stick with you because of the horrors we are put through.

Where to Watch: Saloum is available on Shudder.

Final Thoughts Saloum is a great horror with terrifying creatures.
