Saab RF-35 Draken

@ Paso Robles, CA

August 2022

Stopped by the Estrella Warbirds Museum on my way back from Camarillo and saw this tired SAAB RF-35 Draken. Introduced in 1960, this classic Swedish jet would serve until 2005 (Austrian Air Force).  The Draken (Dragon) was one of the first fully supersonic aircraft to be deployed in Western Europe and the first aircraft to do the Cobra maneuver (Swedish named it “kort parad”).  This particular aircraft was part of the Royal Danish Air Forces, one of six flown at the National Test Pilot School at the Mojave Spaceport and retired in 2009.
