Backlit by the setting Paris sun, this Draken was an aircraft added to the collection since my last visit here in 2003. First flown in 1955, this distinctive Royal Swedish Air Force double-delta design was the first fully supersonic aircraft to be deployed in Western Europe. More than 650 were produced from 1955-74. Due to defense cutbacks and high maintenance costs, the RSAF opted to retire the Draken in 1999. A pair of Drakens are operated by the National Test Pilot School in Mojave. The museum acquired this aircraft in 1978. Nikon D500 w/18-200 mm.
