“s Social Media Articles Pros +how Can Social Media Benefit Your Business”

It can be easy to forget now, but there was a time when group texting wasn’t natively supported in iMessage. Good thing we had GroupMe, which made it possible for groups of friends to seamlessly communicate in one conversation. Better yet, it was cross-platform, so you could message friends whether they were on Android, BlackBerry or who-knows-what. Now group texts are part of iMessage (not to mention every other messaging app) so GroupMe isn’t quite as relevant as it once was. But with advanced notification controls and built-in GIF search, it’s still one of the best ways to keep tabs on giant group message threads.

A social media strategy for me meant narrowing the social networks to Facebook and Twitter (owing to time). Once I got going, I started seeing more and more observations and contributions where your kind of marketing plan is detailed. Your post here has a lot of enlightening detail for someone getting started. Thanks!

The open-ended nature of social networks may only add to the confusion. Once signed into a social network, having answered a few basic profile questions, it’s easy to sit back and wonder what you are supposed to do next.

The dashboard is super simple to use, giving you full customization of your posting schedule and the ability to view your analytics. Using the Buffer mobile app and the web browser extension makes it easier than ever to quickly add web page links (including title and images) to your Buffer schedule. You can upgrade for more posting privileges and social accounts to manage. More »

A good example of a well-written S.M.A.R.T. goal might look like this: “For Instagram we will share photos that communicate our company culture. We will do this by posting three photos a week. The target for each is at least 30 likes and five comments.”

There is no identity attached to messages on Yik Yak, which opens the floodgates for all kinds of flavorful talk (hookup requests are a dime a dozen). Users can up-vote messages and comments they like and even post photos, as long as no one’s personally identifiable information is shared. Regardless of the ban on sharing personal information, the service has still forced schools to deal with cyber bullying like never before.

Another reason WhatsApp spread quickly around the world is that it populates your friends list with phone numbers already on your phone — you can find a contact that works without having to look up a separate email address or username.

You’ll also need to plan your strategy for a longer-term period — typically, something like 12 months is a good starting point, depending on how your business is set up. That way, you can overlay when you’ll be executing each action. For example:

Though its popularity with tweens is frequently attributed to their affinity for PG-13 activities, the reasons for Snapchat’s popularity are much more complex. (If not, then any one of the myriad of better-designed copycat apps would have unseated it by now.)

The emergence of social media and the steady decline of mass media are the two biggest marketing stories of the decade. Both print circulation and TV viewership have been falling consistently since the turn of the century; TV viewership, for instance…

In recent years, social media personalities (also known as digital influencers) have been employed by marketers to promote products online. Research shows that digital influencer endorsements seem to be successfully targeting social media users,[247] especially younger consumers who have grown up in the digital age.[248] Celebrities with large social media followings, such as Kylie Jenner, regularly endorse products to their followers on their social media pages.[249] This practice has become controversial in recent years, as some feel that the endorsements are too implicit, and consumers may not realize that a celebrity’s post has been paid for or sponsored by a corporate entity. This has led to some broadcasting authorities imposing regulations on product endorsement by digital celebrities in order to make the endorsements more explicit.[250][251]

Social media marketing, or SMM, is a form of internet marketing that involves creating and sharing content on social media networks in order to achieve your marketing and branding goals. Social media marketing includes activities like posting text and image updates, videos, and and other content that drives audience engagement, as well as paid social media advertising.

Sponsored spotlight – Spotlight is a directory of some of the popular blogs throughout the community and a place where users can find new blogs to follow. Advertisers can choose one category out of fifty categories that they can have their blog listed on there.[79]

Thanks for the post, Kevan! 2015 is both the Year of the Sheep (Chinese calendar) and for me to become more serious about my social media presence (currently a very sad existence). You hit it on the head with “thrilling and overwhelming”. But your post has helped add to the thrilling by subtracting some of the overwhelming.

Native advertising refers to advertisements that are primarily content-led and featured on a platform alongside other, non-paid content. BuzzFeed sponsored posts are a good example, but many people also consider social media advertising to be ‘native’  — for example, Facebook advertising and Instagram advertising.

When people talk to you, talk back. Set aside time during your day to follow up with conversations that are happening on social media. These are conversations with potential customers, references, friends, and colleagues. They’re too important to ignore.

Cyberbullying/Cyberstalking: Children and teenagers are especially susceptible to cyberbullying because they take more risks when it comes to posting on social media. And now that we all interact on social media via our mobile devices, most major platforms make it possible to share our locations, opening up the doors for cyberstalkers to target us.

LinkedIn, a professional business-related networking site, allows companies to create professional profiles for themselves as well as their business to network and meet others.[50] Through the use of widgets, members can promote their various social networking activities, such as Twitter stream or blog entries of their product pages, onto their LinkedIn profile page.[51] LinkedIn provides its members the opportunity to generate sales leads and business partners.[52] Members can use “Company Pages” similar to Facebook pages to create an area that will allow business owners to promote their products or services and be able to interact with their customers.[53] Due to spread of spam mail sent to job seeker, leading companies prefer to use LinkedIn for employee’s recruitment instead using different a job portal. Additionally, companies have voiced a preference for the amount of information that can be gleaned from a LinkedIn profile, versus a limited email.[54]

Periscope was not that first, and initially it was not the best mobile live-streaming service But it may be the social video broadcast platform we remember. Owned by Twitter and rushed out the door in response to upstart Meerkat’s instant rock-star status at South By Southwest 2015, Periscope looked like a better-designed version of its competitor, but with curiously different functionality (comments on Periscope don’t post to Twitter, for instance).

Thanks for sharing, Ann! Really interesting to see inside your process. I think that the research-heavy, non-fluff articles are quite valuable as they stand out from a lot of the other content that’s out there to consume. Just my 2 cents. Would love to know what you think!

All Seasons Pool – Inground Pool – provides pool services in Central Florida, North Florida and Orlando. All Seasons Pools gives quality pool construction, custom swimming pool installation, new in ground pool builders, quality swimming pools and spas for both commercial clients and homeowners.

You’ve seen the commercials, but there’s more reason than Mariah Carey’s endorsement to download this Age of Empires-like game. The strategy war game is focused on building and defending, and it’s what about 90 percent of the people on the bus are doing during your commute.

An omni-channel approach not only benefits consumers but also benefits business bottom line: Research suggests that customers spend more than double when purchasing through an omni-channel retailer as opposed to a single-channel retailer, and are often more loyal. This could be due to the ease of purchase and the wider availability of products.[20]

Medium is perhaps the best social network for readers and writers. It’s sort of like a blogging platform similar to Tumblr, but features a very minimal look to keep the emphasis on content that’s shared there. Users can publish their own stories and format them just the way they want with photos, videos and GIFs to support their storytelling. All content is driven by the community of users who recommend stories they like, which show up in the feeds of users who follow them. Users can also follow individual tags as a way to subscribe to content focused on topics of interest.  More »

What is ‘extremely online’ and how is it affecting children in Silicon Valley? There’s a new buzzword on the streets: “extremely online.” It means someone is constantly on social media. Whilst spoken in jest, it cradles a dark nuance. People …..

If you ever moved to a new school, or if you can imagine moving to a new school, you start out with no friends. After attending classes, you start meeting people, and as you meet them, you begin associating with those that have similar interests.

From a course management perspective, Facebook may be less efficient as a replacement more conventional course management systems, both because of its limitations with regards to uploading assignments and due to some students’ (and educators’) resistance to its use in education. Specifically, there are features of student-to-student collaboration that may be conducted more efficiently on dedicated course management systems, such as the organization of posts in a nested and linked format. That said, a number of studies suggest that students post to discussion forums more frequently and are generally more active discussants on Facebook posts versus conventional course management systems like WebCT or Blackboard (Chu and Meulemans, 2008; Salaway, et al., 2008; Schroeder and Greenbowe, 2009).[225][226][227]

This refers to the digital assets that your brand or company owns — whether that’s your website, social media profiles, blog content, or imagery, owned channels are the things your business has complete control over. This can include some off-site content that you own, but isn’t hosted on your website, like a blog that you publish on Medium, for example.

Gao, Luo, and Zhang (2012) reviewed literature about Twitter published between 2008 and 2011. They concluded that Twitter allowed students to participate with each other in class (by creating an informal “back channel”), and extend discussion outside of class time. They also reported that students used Twitter to get up-to-date news and connect with professionals in their field. Students reported that microblogging encouraged students to “participate at a higher level”.[233] Because the posts cannot exceed 140 characters, students were required to express ideas, reflect, and focus on important concepts in a concise manner. Some students found this very beneficial. Other students did not like the character limit. Also, some students found microblogging to be overwhelming (information overload). The research indicated that many students did not actually participate in the discussions, “they just lurked” online and watched the other participants.[233]

This does not trouble Professor Floridi, because he thinks that some kind of currency is needed to fund social media — and if attention worked for TV, why not Facebook? But a vocal minority is lamenting not just the growth of social media ads, but also the way sites like Facebook and Twitter are nibbling away at the amount of quiet and reflective time in our culture, which has long been in decline.
