This gleaming PT-22 is on final approach to Camarillo to participate in the Wings Over Camarillo airshow.  Developed in 1941 from the civilian Ryan ST design, the Ryan PT-22 Recruit was a military trainer aircraft used by the United States Army Air Corps during WWII for primary pilot training and the last of T. Claude Ryan’s metal trainer designs. The wheel spats and landing gear fairings seen on the Ryan ST were deleted on this aircraft in order to simplify maintenance.  Actor Harrison Ford piloted a PT-22 during a well publicized 2015 crash landing on a golf course. First flown in 1941, over 1,000 would be manufactured in their San Diego plant.  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
