True Blood’s Jason, Ryan Kwanten posted a photo of himself about three weeks ago on his Instagram account on the set of his new film, “The Effects of Blunt Force Trauma,” which was recently shot in Bogota, Colombia.
Ryan is credited as playing the part of “John” and the filming went on in September and October but is now in post-production. Along with Ryan it stars Mickey Rourke and is directed and written by Ken Sanzel for Voltage Pictures.
The project centers on an underground money-making subculture of people who wear bulletproof vests and shoot each other. One professional “dueler” is losing the rush of excitement he used to get from the sport and sets out to find the only worthy opponent left in the sport, meeting a female “duelist” along the way to brings him on a quest of self discovery.
For Rourke, this kind of film is old hat, after boxing professionally, Rourke re-launched his career with “The Wrestler,” a role which earned him an Oscar nod and re-invigorated his acting career.
On the big screen, Ryan has starred in lighter fare like “Not Suitable for Children,” action/comedy “Knights of Badassdom,” and rom-com “Right Kind of Wrong.” Among his upcoming projects, Kwanten will star in action/adventure “Northmen: A Viking Saga.”
