Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are being used by social media platforms all over the world, and Vkontakte, which is the biggest social media network in Russia, has joined them. Vkontakte users will soon be able to upload digital collections, according to the most recent news.
Account holders on Vkontakte will be able to buy and sell non-fungible tokens in the future, as the company plans to open a market for them soon (NFTs). Local news sources say that the platform has started offering both NFT training courses and NFT services.
During a presentation in Moscow, the CEO of VK, Marina Krasnova, and the CTO, Alexander Tobol, said that all users would be able to use the new features in a few days. Those who own digital collectibles will be able to move them to their VK accounts using the VK NFT option.
Users can show off their tokens as avatars on their profiles or in a separate showcase. To do this, they need to link their cryptocurrency wallets to their accounts. Krasnova says that our goal is to make it as easy as possible for users to interact with NFTs.
There will be a hub for NFT on Vkontakte.
Vkontakte, which is the most popular social media site in Russia, said that its NFT line will start in January 2023. In the future, they also plan to add a full NFT marketplace where users can buy and sell collectibles.
More Vkontakte products, such as games and gifts, will have NFT technology built in. The social media platform says that they want to make an NFT hub with announcements, news, market analysis, and case studies. Vkontakte says that its team will use this platform to talk with the NFT community about ideas and look for possible partners.
The Russian government is making changes to the laws so that they cover more related activities and things. The Russian Ministry of Economy is working on changes to the way the NFT space is run.
