I mean, he did it in a very subtle way, like this, "Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili and I had been having talks, for a long time, about ways to avoid conflict in South Ossetia. We were in contact by phone and letters. After US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made her visit to Georgia, in August 2008, the communication STOPPED."
He goes on to say he doesn't think The United States are directly to blame for the South Ossetian invasion by Georgia in August 2008, just that they may have used 'persuasive subtleties' with Saakashvili and given him the idea he might have 'backup from the Americans'.
Medvedev publicly fingers Condoleezza Rice for her part in that operation; she is the person he 'analysed and calculated with 20/20 hindsight' could have had most influence on Saakashvili's insane decision to go to war with Russia.
You don't believe me, do you?
