Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe yesterday (21) said that Rs.51,967 million has been paid to beneficiaries since the start of the ‘Aswasuma’ scheme. The Finance Ministry released Rs.8793 million to banks as the December installments of ‘Aswasuma’ beneficiaries.
He also said that from yesterday (21) this money would be credited to the bank account of the 1,410,064 ‘Aswasuma’ beneficial families. Accordingly, 303,199 destitute families, 606,496 poor families, 290,624 families at risk and 209,745 transition families will receive Aswasuma payments. Semasinghe further emphasised that the ‘Aswasuma’ review is done every six months and steps have also been taken to pay elderly, kidney and disabled allowances.
