I've been waiting to see Roxette live for over 15 years, and last night I finally lived my dream. And what a night it was. I bought my tickets from November, I paid a small fortune as they were front seats, but it was worth every penny spent. Needless to say, I got there early (annoying my dear wife a bit), but I didn't want to miss a thing. Well, enough talking about me, let's go to the real story and the actors of the night.
Roxette XXX - The 30 Biggest Hits is a greatest hits album by the Swedish pop music duo Roxette published by Parlophone Records, originally released ...
The show started with the Swedish group Eskobar, I was a little discouraged at first, as the O2 Arena was almost half empty. They did their best to get some public attention for over half an hour. The only Eskobar song that caught my attention was "It's a good day to die", but for me and everyone else it was a night to live. So after 30 minutes of Eskobar, the O2 was finally full, and a magical night was about to begin.
The concert started with "Sleeping in my car", the crowd was already on their feet, I never liked that song, but it's just a personal opinion. It was followed by "El gran amor" and the clapping and singing got better and better. "Stars" was the next one, in this not all the public seemed to know the lyrics, but they continued with the band. Then on 'Spending my time' it felt like she was going to take over the roof of the O2 Arena as Marie let the audience head to the song.
"Crash! Boom! Bang! ' It was a surprise as it was introduced by Per, with Marie joining in afterwards, for me it will always be a Marie song, no offense to Per. "Crush on you" also had a better reception than I expected. I like the song, don't get me wrong, but I always thought it could have done better on the charts. The last song performed "She's Got Nothing On (But The Radio)" was another concert hit.
'The heart shaped sea' was featured by Per, as he joked with Magnus on his favorite Roxette album. Per said that Magnuss's favorite album was 'Have a nice day', Magnuss denied saying that his favorite is 'Balladas en Español'. A special mention to Dea, the youngest member who did a great job helping Marie when she needed it, and also put on a good piano performance on 'Water colors in the rain'. I was busy clapping, singing, taking photos and getting anxious while waiting for 'Joyride'.
I haven't read the show before the show, so I had no idea of the schedule. While waiting for 'Joyride', I started to wonder, why was 'The look' missing. It goes without saying that in all this time there was not a single soul sitting. Sorry let me get back to the show, as it was time for "Fading Like a Flower", the singing from both sides was getting better and better. The one that was going to get the best reception was "How do you do", it felt like a clapping contest for the entire duration of the song.
The title track of "Pretty Woman" "It must have been love" was introduced by Per, but needs no introduction. 'Dressed for success' made me wonder about Per's actual age as he was running all over the stage, while you could see from his face that he was enjoying the audience's contribution to the show. Marie also looked very happy, and rewarded us with an amazing performance.
By the time 'Dangerous' kicked in, I was already wishing the night would never end. Suddenly it was time for the big 'Joyride', buying then I was already giving up my camera, and trying to use the best of my phone for recording. And that seemed to be the end, but I knew I wanted to see some more, so I joined everyone else and started yelling "ROXETTE" as loud as I could after an hour of singing. After a few minutes my favorite band was back on stage.
Roxette XXX years of musical journey, keeps London singing
30th Anniversary Tour - RoxetteBlog
It's packed with wonderful photos taken by master photographer Anders Roos on Roxette's XXX tour and also includes 41 reflections from our very own Per Gessle.
"Listen to your heart" with a very long goodbye to Marie, (she looked beautiful in white by the way) seemed to be the end, but I was not wrong once again, since "The Look" was the one that would end the show and the night, as it was sung on the tube stairs by one of London's amateur singers. A London night that will always remain in my heart.
