Rockstar has chosen to prohibit cryptos, NFTs, and other related to GTA RP

Grand Theft Auto Roleplay (GTA RP) will never be the same again due to recent policy changes by Rockstar. Rockstar Support tweeted that the company’s policy on mods now includes roleplay (RP) servers. This prevents the usage of non-fungible tokens, cryptocurrencies, loot boxes, and numerous other items on an RP server. The announcement comes after the popular rapper Lil Durk offered “Trenches Pass” with treasure boxes on his special RP server in October.

From the above tweet, you can see that Rockstar Support shared the new rules for the GTA RP servers. The following changes to their policy will make it illegal for NFTs to be on an RP server:

Using Rockstar Games’ logos or game ideas without permission Using or misusing other people’s intellectual property (IP), such as other Rockstar IPs, characters, real-world brands, music, or trademarks, in the project.

Commercial use, such as selling “loot boxes” for real money or the in-game equivalent, making money through corporate sponsorships or in-game integrations, selling virtual currencies, or using crypto assets (like “NFTs”) or cryptocurrencies to make money. Making new maps, games, missions, or stories. Interfering with official multiplayer or online services, like GTA Online and Red Dead Online.

The developers wanted to show how much they value the creators’ passion and creativity by saying:

“Rockstar Games has always believed in reasonable fan creativity and wants creators to showcase their passion for our games. Third-party “Roleplay” servers are an extension of the rich array of community-created experiences within Grand Theft Auto that we hope will continue to thrive in a safe and friendly way for many years to come.”

Context: Lil Durk partnered with Exceed Talent Capital almost a month ago to offer an "IPO" for his music.
Exceed will release a "Trenches All-Access Pass" which is an NFT with exclusive access to a custom GTA RP server. The NFT includes a Loot Box.

Tez2, a well-known insider, says that Lil Durk teamed up with Exceed Talent Capital last month to “IPO” his music. The company is supposed to release a “Trenches All-Access Pass” that will be a NFT and will include a “Loot Box.”

According to the source, Rockstar’s new rules might be a response to Lil Durk’s NFT system. There was talk about the following:

“So Take-Two is making moves.”

Jake Lucky put out a trailer on September 2, 2022, to tell people about Lil Durk’s custom GTA server. He said:

“The server will also feature up-and-coming artists on the servers, radio stations, and much more”

But it hasn’t been proven that the company moved just because of the changes mentioned. It looks like the people who make GTA RP servers want to get rid of NFTs completely. Players should keep in mind that custom servers should be allowed as long as they don’t break any of the rules above.
