Gered Mankowitz’s famous sleeve shot for the Rolling Stones 5th album was captured at around 5.30a.m after an all-night recording session. The thinking behind the timing of the shoot was to capture the Stones at their most grizzly and dissipated. The result, as you can see, was achieved perfectly.
Richard is running a 50th Anniversary Stones special walk on 12th July at 2.30pm.
