Cosmopolitan Australia : Everyone’s talkin’ about Robyn

Robyn Lawley’s kick ass approach to body image and Cosmo bikini shoot have caught global attention.

She’s been featured in the pages of Cosmo for years. Why? Because she’s drop-dead gorgeous (and she also doesn’t happen to be a size 6). And now Robyn Lawley and her kickin’ curves are getting some serious global attention.

The 24-year-old Aussie who’s modelled for Ralph Lauren and numerous times for Cosmoappeared on a pro-ana Facebook page coveting “thigh gap” (the gap at the top of the thighs that some women have when they’re standing with their feet together) where users began calling her names and saying she was “too fat”. Sickening, right?

So rather than ignore her haters, Robyn has spoken out in an opinion piece for The Daily Beast about thigh gap, why it’s not healthy and why she’s not ashamed of her body:

“The truth is I couldn’t care less about needing a supposed ‘thigh gap;. It’s just another tool of manipulation that other people are trying to use to keep me from loving my body. Why would I want to starve and weaken my natural body size? I’m not saying women who have it naturally are unattractive. But I would have to change my entire frame just to achieve something that seems so trivial.”

And proving that she’s confident about her bangin’ bod, Robyn appears in our swimwear shoot that features in Cosmo this month. Cosmo has always been committed to featuring models of all shapes and sizes, so we’re happy Robyn’s getting the recognition she deserves.

We think Robyn looks incredible and Cosmo’s fashion director Nicole Adolphe, who styled the shoot, agrees.

“Robyn is an absolute pleasure to work with. She’s so professional and easy to shoot. Her body is amazing; she towers over me, she’s super curvy in all the right places and she carries herself confidently. She’s so full of life and is an amazing role model for all women,” Nicole says.

Since Robyn’s Cosmo swim shoot and thigh gap comments, her fight against negative body image has been featured on Huffington Post, Daily Mail and other news outlets worldwide. Oh and she also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week to talk to Ellen about thigh gap and her struggle as a young model trying to fit the thin ideal, no big deal…
