Robert Pattinson says Final Fantasy 7 made him cry

Robert Pattinson: The Batman with a soft side. During a promotional tour for Christopher Nolan film Tenet, in which he stars, Pattinson was asked by CNET sister site Gamespot what his all-time favorite is.

"I think it was a lot of people's favorite game, but Final Fantasy 7" he said firmly. "Probably one of the few times in my life I've cried when Aeris dies."

Pattinson is referring to one of the most surprising twists and turns in video game history. Square Enix spent the entire first part of Final Fantasy 7 establishing Aeris as the only solution to an apocalyptic spell from the villain Sephiroth, only for Sephiroth to descend from the sky and impale Aeris with his absurdly long Masamune sword. The cult scene has made Aeris an enduring video game character.

"My first love," joked Pattinson.

GameSpot's Eddie Makuch asked Elizabeth Dobecki, Pattinson's Tenet co-star, the same thing. She claimed she wasn't a gamer, but then said she was addicted to an undisclosed Harry Potter PC game at some point. ""[I was] obsessed. The summer vacation just disappeared, "she said. Sounds like a gamer to me.

Pattinson did not comment Final Fantasy 7 Remakethat started in March after 15 years of hype. This game is only the first part of the 7 Remake Project and ends before the scene in which Aeris died in the original. We'll have to wait until the second part of Remake to see if Square Enix kills Aeris again.
