You won’t find many things that will make me happier than a new track from Robert Glasper, especially when it’s The Robert Glasper Experiment back with the first single off of their upcoming Black Radio 2 on Blue Note Records (last year’s Black Radio was GOF’s album of the year for 2012). This time the album looks to be all original compositions and the lineup of guest artists is as impressive as on the first album with the likes of Common, Brandy, Norah Jones, Faith Evans, Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott and many more. “Calls” picks up right where the last album left off: straight up jazz by The Experiment matched perfectly with some hip-hop beats and neo-soul stylings. Black Radio 2 is due out October 29th, so stay tuned for a few more leaks before the album drops. Recommended.
