Story: Road House starts when former UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal) steps away from the ring to become a bouncer. He joins Frankie’s bar the Roadhouse which is notorious for rough around the edge customers.

It doesn’t take long for Dalton to make a big impact and impress the fellow staff. Any troubles in the bar, he gets cleaned up and teaches the younger bouncers how to conduct themselves. However, Dalton ends up upsetting the wrong people leading to Ben Brandt (Magnussen) trying to settle the score.

Verdict on Road House

Road House is an action comedy following a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer. He uses his fighting abilities to neutralise violent situations. However, he gets the attention of a much more violent gang who want the area.

This is a remake of the beloved 80s movie that uses the modernisation of the times to bring things back to life. It follows most of the same beats and does so with more flash and glamour than the original rough house one. Conor McGregor steals the movie acting how I imagine he does in everyday life too. In the end, it does feel like a throwback movie, with wacky events happening. However, most of the characters don’t get any real development leaving things feeling flat at times.

Final Thoughts Road House is all flash and no substance.
