Posted on the 26 August 2022 by Top10

Yoga is a holistic practice of Indian origin that allows you to approach a healthier lifestyle, which allows you to connect body, mind and spirit. It is proven that this practice has become a lifestyle changing habits for many who practice it, deepening the theory that we are what we eat.

One of the fundamental principles of yoga is to have a conscious diet, which provides you with all the necessary nutrients to avoid various toxic habits for the body and complement this practice. Those who do it are closely linked to vegan or vegetarian food in order to be in tune with the environment.

Selecting the foods you eat gives you greater well-being, as well as physical and mental balance. For the same reason, it is advisable not to follow extreme diets, but to find the right diet. So take a pencil and paper, write down the following Rishtedar recipe so you can nourish yourself with all the super foods that your body needs.

DAL TADKA

Ingredients

  • 150 g of red lentils
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 large spoon of oil
  • 1 large tablespoon of Garam masala
  • 1 large tablespoon of turmeric
  • 1 small tablespoon of cumin seed
  • 1 tablespoon red paprika powder
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 little grated fresh ginger
  • fresh cilantro

Preparation:

Cook the lentils in a pot, in triple the volume of water, with the curry, turmeric, 1 bay leaf, ginger and a little salt. Cook for 15 minutes, add the peeled, diced tomato and cook for a further 15 minutes.

Turn off the heat and leave to rest while we prepare the tarka (technique used to heat the spices before mixing them into the lentils)

For the Tarka, you should start by heating the oil. Drop a few cumin seeds into the oil to check that it is hot (the seeds start to burst). Then add the rest of the cumin, the bay leaf and the garlic. Let the garlic brown and finish by adding the paprika. Mix well and pour the spices over the lentils.

Wrap well, garnish with fresh coriander and serve.
