Rihanna is the modern day material girl. She’s an icon of a generation, influencing young women in ways of fashion/style, love and social etiquette. Check the blogs–gossip or fashion or music industry, she’s a mainstay. Look at social media–Instagram pics are liked and dissected. Her tweets are digested, retweeted and dissected. It doesn’t really matter if you follow her or not, if you’re a Gen-Xer, her image will show up in your feed. She’s edgy, she’s beautiful, she’s successful and she’s young. All the ingredients needed to have brands line up and offer her endorsements. Her edginess may be a double edge sword (losing the Nivea deal) but it’s otherwise have kept her interesting and in a time of short attention spans, relevant.

That relevancy coupled with her beauty keeps her on the covers of the biggest fashion magazines. This month, she makes her way to Elle UK.

Shot in Paris by Mariano Vivanco, Rihanna shows off pieces from her spring/summer 2013 collection for River Island on both: a black, zip-through River Island skirt paired with a Louis Vuitton monochrome top on one and on the other, a striped bra from the same collection peeking out from Prada’s silk and satin stole.
