Bizjournals.com, just covered Rightside (Nasdaq: NAME) and there is some good information in the article some of which I had not read before

“Rightside spent $54.18 million on gTLDs over the past three years. The company got back about $29 million of that by withdrawing applications on some domains”

With its partner in certain strings Donuts, Rightside applied or had part interest in 133 new gTLD applications.

Rightside secured 39 new gTLD strings and is still negotiating on another 26.

One of Rightside’s new gTLD .Ninja which it was the only applicant for therefore cost just the application fee of $185,000 was .ninja

“It launched the domain last May and has since sold more than 30,000 addresses. Each sale earned Rightside $12, meaning the company made its money back in a matter of weeks.”

Shares of Rightside are trading at $7.20 as of time of publication
