Richie Hawtin Awarded Samurai Title for ENTER.SAKE

By Theneonhub @theneonhub

Electronic musician Richie Hawtin became a complete Japanophile when he spent twenty years traveling, working and tasting sake in Japan. It led him to launch ENTER.SAKE, Ibiza’s first proper sake bar offering an immersive experience of both music and drink, in Playa d’en Bossa.

But with young Japanese people choosing Western drinks like beer and cocktails over their local tipple sake, the domestic Japanese sake industry is declining. Hawtin is passionate to rectify this and revive the appreciate for the drink by “combining my love and knowledge of the Electronic Music scene and world of Japanese sake in a way to help (in my own way) revitalize the Sake industry and introduce my fans and colleagues into the world of Japanese sake and culture”.

His boutique sake collection includes ‘Black’ Silver’ and ‘Gold’ sake from Sookuu brewery and a sparkling alternative from Dassai Brewing. By working with artisans he hopes to continue to support their “pathway to create something unique and different”.

Hawtin’s approach of combining a deep understanding and appreciation for Japanese culture and sake led him to be awarded the Samurai title at the annual Sake Samurai Awards, at the Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto.
