Graeme Pallister is launching a series of Demo Dinners on Tuesday 30th June where he’ll demonstrate how to cook the main course everyone will enjoy for dinner. The Demo Dinners will then take place bi-monthly on the last Tuesday of the month. At the first Demo Dinner, Graeme will be making a simple baked hake with a mussel broth. Easy for people to recreate at home, and delicious to enjoy on the night! The evening costs £20 per person and includes the demo, the main course and a matched glass of wine. Wagamama venture out East with an opening at The Fort on 8th June.   A 170 seat restaurant will create 40 new jobs as well as some new decor to the shopping/food village.  A semi circular open kitchen will give a peek into the Wagamama cooking process.

Boxsmall Market returns, complete with Bubbleparc and designer picnic area

Boxsmall Market returns to Edinburgh for its second year and takes place at Princes Mall Roof Terrace from Friday 19th June – Monday 31st August. This  family-friendly summer market comprises of four interactive zones -Boxsmall Market, Bubbleparc, a designer picnic area and two unique theater ‘show boxes’ providing 10 minute, interactive children’s shows throughout the day.

The Boxsmall Market is an architecturally designed market made up of a series of contemporary cubic micro-stores, showcasing the very best of Scottish products from delicious local food to cutting edge design, clothing and crafts. Exhibitors include Edinburgh Natural Skin Care, Embryonic Art, Meredith Jewellery and Cabbie Kids.

Visitors can relax and enjoy the picnic area surrounded by a colourful collection of fresh food stalls. Everything from seasonal Scottish food including suppliers such as Howie’s to international street food from Orinoco, Pappa Mama and Los Cardos.

Two unique ‘show boxes’ will present regular daily children’s mini performances, lasting up to 10 minutes each. Children will be immersed in an interactive and hands-on mini theater environment, taking them on a fun and memorable journey.

In addition, the Bubbleparc – which was also designed by Boxsmall Market’s architect and designer, Pol Taylor – includes the ball shaped, geodesic Bungeydome allowing children (3+) to reverse jump up to eight metres high.

Farm Shop Celebrates Its 4th Birthday With A Family BBQ Day

Hopetoun Farm Shop in West Lothian has announced plans to celebrate its 4th birthday by holding a Family BBQ Day on Saturday 13th June, from 12 – 4pm. The annual celebrations include actities for all the family and opportunities to taste some of some of the Farm Shop’s award winning produce.

As part of the celebrations, children are invited to paint a large outdoor mural on the Farm Shop’s new cold store. Budding young artists can decorate the cold store with paintings of their favorite food to create a giant produce themed mural, with art supplies provided.

There will also be a chance to meet the farming team – both animal and human – with Farm Manager Mike Eagers bringing along some of the Hopetoun Estate’s furry and feathered friends.

Samples of locally produced ales from De Brus brewery in Dunfermline and Hopetoun’s very own Aberdeen Angus steak burgers. Edinburgh patisserie Zukr, Perthshire chocolatier Wicked and Fife producers Chillilicious are also among the array of Scottish suppliers offering visitors a free taste of their latest products on offer at Hopetoun Farm Shop.

Cook and Indi crowned Curry Kings for second year in a row

Cook Gill and Indi Singh, co-founders of rapidly expanding restaurant chain Cook & Indi’s World Buffet, have been crowned Curry Kings of the Year at The Scottish Curry Awards 2015 for the second year in a row.

Competitors for nearly a decade, Cook Gill and Indi Singh joined forces two years ago to introduce the concept of World Buffet to Scotland. Starting from humble beginnings in an empty shell in Hamilton, the pair proceeded to open seven restaurants – the biggest and most prominent of which opened in the former Harry Ramsden’s flagship outlet at Springfield Quay in Glasgow.
