I’ve got some rhubarb growing in the garden. I hate to admit to being such a lightweight, but I really do not like to make pie crust without my food processor, which is in NY. Nor do I particularly like rhubarb without strawberries. Except in this recipe for rhubarb soda.
A few good things about making your own soda:
- it’s not as cheap as buying it
- you can make it much, much less sweet than commercial soda
- if you only drink sodas that you make, you’re likely to be fine, because it’s sort of a pain to make them.
Also, this particular soda will only be available to you for a few weeks out of every year (well, unless you freeze rhubarb) but anyway, it has the taste of summer.
{If you’re not averse to alcohol, I recommend trying your rhubarb soda in a seasonally appropriate Ruby June–basically a rhubarb margarita–a deliciously cooling beverage.}
