Yoko Design are a small kitchenware company who are new to the UK market. Their products are designed to make cooking more simple and more enjoyable. They recently contacted me to ask me if I would like to review one of their products and I jumped at the chance.
It took me a while to choose as there are lots of great products such as a popcorn maker, cupcake mold and a whoopie pie baking set! I eventually went for this cake pop mold as I have alway wanted to try making them but always thought that they looked mega complicated.
The mold is made from 100% platinum silicone and this means that it is safe to use in the oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher. It comes in 2 halves with 10 sections for 10 cake pops. One side also has little holes that you can use to stand your assembled cake pops in and it's also really handy that you get 20 sticks included in the box.
All you need to do is pour your chosen cake mix into one half of the mould, place the other half on top and then put it in the oven. Once baked, you are left with awesome little cake balls that you can pop a stick into and there you have cake pops ready for decorating!
Being a bit of a novice at cake pops and a very messy baker, my cake pops look rather like they have been assembled by a 5 year old. I dipped them in melted chocolate and chopped nuts which tasted great but did leave my kitchen in a complete mess. Once I had chilled them in the fridge however, they tasted great!
Verdict Well my cake pops may have been a mess but I honestly cannot fault the mold from Yoko Design. It made the cake ball part of cake pops super easy to make and best of all I could just stick it in the dishwasher afterwards. I am off to read up on better toppings so I can make some better looking cake pops next time, and I would love to hear if you have any suggestions so feel free to leave me a comment or tweet @TheReviewAddict.
