Toddlerhood is a fun age. They're no longer as dependent as babies, can eat pretty much everything and can sleep through the night (although whether they actually do so is another matter!). They're also completely mobile now, and have mastered most gross and fine motor skills. But most importantly, this is also the age where their brain is developing at a rapid pace, and picking up all kinds of information from the world around them!
Experts say that 90% of a child's brain development occurs by the age of five years - yes, 90%!! That's no small amount, which is why this is the age when kids are quickly able to grasp concepts like shapes, colors, the names of things and much more. An important area of learning even for toddlers is math, and they are developing math skills through play, even if they may not be aware of it! According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), early math skills build a child's confidence about math, which translates into better academic performance later in school.
But how does one teach a running, bouncing toddler math? With a Nutty Numbers box from WonderBoxx! Going by Plato and Galileo's words, this box puts the focus on learning about numbers through games that include counting, sorting, recognition, art and cognition. The Nutty Numbers box is from WonderBoxx's Toddlo range, meant for kids aged 1-3. We were sent the Nutty Numbers box for review, so let's take a look at what's in the box!
The Nutty Numbers box arrived in a box with the WonderBoxx signature style, featuring cute characters and pleasant colors. My toddler couldn't wait to open her special gift! The box is sturdy which is a good thing. For one, we know that toddlers are very interested in playing with the box! Secondly, there are many activities that'll last a while, and the box is easy enough to open and store the materials you're not using right now.
Inside the box, all the materials are wrapped neatly, in individual see-through plastic bags. The resealable bags are especially useful, to hold the smaller pieces.
The Nutty Numbers box contains seven different activities, listed below:
1. Number Dice and Movements Spinwheel Activity
An activity that involves an activity wheel and counting.
2. Big Elephant Number Puzzle
This activity requires identifying numbers and matching skills.
3. DIY Number Bunting Banner
This sticking activity encourages number identification and comparison of less and more.
4. Mish Mash Numbers Spiral book
This is a cute and colorful book that promotes number recognition, along with shapes, patterns and quantities.
5. Tactile Circus Boards
This is a fun activity that requires making the circus with the right number of elements.
6. Storybook: Stack Up!

Our Experience with the WonderBoxx Nutty Numbers Toddlo Box
The Nutty Numbers box has been designed very well, with many math concepts very cleverly integrated into games. The quality of all the materials are top notch and can withstand some rough handling by toddlers! The pictures are large and bright but pleasing enough to catch the attention of young kids.
While the activities are simple, they offer the right amount of challenge for kids of this age group. With simple instructions, my child was able to work through the activities by herself. This is great since it gives children the confidence that they did the activity by themselves.
Verdict
In a nutshell, I'd recommend this box any day! It's perfect for holidays and vacations, and also makes for a great gift. Besides Nutty Numbers, there are many other themes in Toddlo boxes, with each box focusing on a different set of skills. So if you want your toddler to learn and have fun at the same time, go for WonderBoxx!
