Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike Synopsis Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike
Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful - too beautiful for words.
Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

This cover isn't my favorite, but it's still very pretty. I love how the petals are shaped like wings and sitting on top of a water source. Very simple but artistic at the same. And it matches perfectly with the story. Works for me!
Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike Characters Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike
Laurel was a bit too introverted for my taste. I can totally understand where she's coming from though. She's been inside the four safe walls of her own home for as long as she can remember so you can tell she isn't the most trusting of people at first. However, David totally wins her over on day one. I absolutely adored David! Seriously, where can I get myself one of them? He is like... the perfect guy.
In comes Tamani. I have to admit I was very sketchy of him at first, but the ending blew me away and I fell instantly in love with him. Chelsea is super cool as well. Great character development in this book. I really enjoyed everyone's personalities. Also, it's awesome that Laurel is vegan! You don't read about that much.
Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike Story Review: Wings by Aprilynne Pike
This book had one awesomely unique story. It's my first fairy book and I was not disappointed one bit. I don't know how much truth is in the story (based on folklore and all that) but it was pretty believable to me. The description of this amazing transformation really makes you see what's going on. I love to feel like I am actually there with the characters, and Pike did an excellent job helping me to obtain that feeling. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves fairies or just now getting into them. It's a fabulous debut for sure! I'll be continuing the series stat!

“Typical mother advice. Sweet, honest, and completely useless. ” - Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!
