Sainsbury's Mexican - Cornbread, Sweetcorn Fritters & BBQ Bean Quesadillas
One of my readers contacted me a few weeks back and suggested that I try this Cornbread from Sainsbury's. I had never tried cornbread before so I was really keen to give it a go! Eventually I managed to track it down and as it's part of the Mexican range and I love Mexican food I decided to try another couple of bits too, so I went for some Sweetcorn Fritters and these little mini BBQ Bean Quesadillas.

The Cornbread is priced at £1.50 and serves 2 with a serving containing 272 calories. I loved the bright yellow appearance and the fact that it was shaped to look like a sun. It had a really lovely texture to it; I thought that it was going to be dense but it was much lighter than I expected, although heavier than normal bread. It kind of reminded me of a pizza crust but a really nice pizza crust with a slightly sandy textured coating. It tasted buttery, almost fried and to be honest I could have easily eaten a whole of these to myself, it was very tasty indeed.

The Sweetcorn Fritters were £2.50 for a pack of 4 and half a pack contains 193 calories. I've tried sweetcorn fritters quite a few times and I thought that these ones were pretty good. They weren't too greasy and had a nice kick to them.
The BBQ Bean Quesadillas looked quite cute, I don't think I have ever seen such mini versions! These were also £2.50 for 4 and half a pack contains 90 calories. I enjoyed the BBQ filling but personally thought that they could have done with a bit more heat to them as they were pretty mild and they were just crying out for some cheese to be thrown in there too.

Verdict
If this review was on the cornbread alone then I would easily award 5 stars but as I am reviewing the 3 products then I am going to say 4 stars for the lack of heat in the quesadillas and the different cooking temperatures. The cornbread cooks at 200C and the other bits at 190C which I thought was a bit silly because usually products from the same range cook at the same temperature!
