Review: Little Lamb OSFA Nappy

By Sjay235 @naturalmommainm
Today's cloth nappy review is the Little Lamb osfa pocket nappy.
Little Lamb
Details:
A birth to potty  pocket nappy with snap closure. Older versions come with microfibre inserts, newer version comes with two little lamb  bamboo boosters.
Fit:
As with all birth to potty nappies these are very adjustable through their series of poppers. I do personally find them a little on the larger side, and for that reason they didn't fit Isabelle well until she was several months old. Their generous size means they should last us a long time,  however. The waist elastic in these doesn't seem overly tight which means they sometimes gape at her tummy.
Review: Little Lamb OSFA NappyContainment:
The only extreme nappy explosion we have ever had was out of one of these nappies - a combination of her perhaps still being too small and the slacker waist elastic. Generally, they do contain solids pretty well.
I have both the old style microfibre inserts and the new bamboo type. I honestly cannot fault the microfibre - yes it needs boosted eventually but I rarely have had a leak with that. I can't understand why Little Lamb chose to change to two bamboo boosters. Bamboo absorbs slowly so is not great at dealing with bigger wees- leading to lots of leaks. I bought some extra microfibre inserts and use those in all my Little Lambs, and use the bamboo to boost. This works much better for us - and from speaking with other mums, it works much better for most people.
Ease of use:
Comparable to any pocket nappy. I do find the new versions very difficult to stuff though, due to the texture of the PUL. This makes them a total pain to work with. They are quite wide in the crotch though, which makes for easier stuffing and allows me to use a size 2 bamboo booster which many of my pockets seem too narrow to use.
Quality and Appearance:
Not the prettiest- they come in a range of block colours, but they are OK  looking and the color range is good enough. Quality wise, I cannot fault the older style at all. The new style  suffers from the 'sticky PUL' affliction which  I have seen before, making it very hard to stuff as I mentioned above.
Price:
I actually won 10 of these nappies so mine were free! Little Lamb do great bulk offer deals direct from their website, so you can get 6 of these for £45 - a bargain and much cheaper than many other pocket nappies.
Bug bears:
Has to be that sticky PUL and the insane inclusion of the two bamboo boosters instead of microfibre. I'll never get my head round that one.
Overall:
It's a 3.5/5 from me for these nappies. Yes they have their flaws and they certainly aren't my favorite nappy, but they are great value and when I use microfibre and bamboo together, work really well. I think they will stand the test of time for us, lasting well no to toddlerhood.
