I was SO excited to learn about the new Kit Kat Chunkys for their latest Choose a Champion Campaign, especially to learn that one of the flavours is coconut and regular readers of my blog will know that I am a sucker for anything containing coconut...But then imagine my disappointment when I couldn't track down one of these bars; I must have been in about 30 shops across 3 counties and I have sent my husband on a wild goose chase around Bracknell all to no avail...Then Katherine at Grocery Gems came to the rescue and kindly offered to send me one of the elusive Kit Kat Chunky Coconut bars, thank you Katherine!
I am well aware that there are 3 other new Kit Kat Chunkys; Mint, Choc Fudge and Hazelnut but these can wait. I have already reviewed the Hazelnut Creme in 2012 and loved it so I am confused as to why they have brought out another version, which from reading reviews from other bloggers seems to be somewhat lacking compared to the green-wrappered version, which incidentally I can find lots of locally!
Anyway back to the Kit Kat Chunky Coconut!
The bar comes in the standard 3 sections embossed with the Kit Kat logo. As soon as I opened the wrapper I could smell the delicious aroma of the coconut. The outside chocolate on the bar is lovely and coconuty, it's not a massively strong coconut flavor but it was really pleasant. The bit in between the wafers was just like a normal Kit Kat Chunky however, and there doesn't appear to be any additional coconut flavouring here which was a bit of a shame.
Verdict The Kit Kat Chunky Coconut is a really nice bar and I will certainly be getting it again once they come into the shops around here. However I was a little disappointed that the wafer section didn't have more of the coconut flavor. Despite not trying the other new Kit Kat Chunkys I am sure that this will be my favorite of the 4 new ones but that green-wrappered Hazelnut Cream remains my favorite of the overall Chunky range at this point in time.
