I won these limited edition Jalapeño and Lime Tortilla Chips From Kettle Chips on Facebook. Apparently they are so limited edition that they don't even come in proper packaging! I reviewed the Nacho Cheese and Cool Sour Cream flavours last year and enjoyed both but I have to admit that I wasn't sure how lime would work on crisps.
As soon as I opened the bag I could smell that these tortilla chips were going to be spicy. I poured some into a bowl and I could see little flecks of green which I assumed was the Jalapeños.
I could taste the lime first of all but it was quite subtle, just a slight citrusy tang. Then followed the heat from the Jalapeños which gives them a great kick, strong enough to have me reaching for a glass of water after a few of the chips. Then as the heat subsided I got a lovely zingy aftertaste as the flavour from the lime returned.
Verdict The lime and chilli flavour of these Kettle Chips Tortilla Chips is very addictive, the more I ate them, the more I wanted! I thought that the flavour combination was interesting and it worked really well, I hope that they release more of these!
