Review: Eats from the Street at Glasgow Fort

 Street food comes to Glasgow’s east-end

Eats from the street launched at Glasgow Fort last weekend and we popped along to check it out. Nusou were there and they had just won best newcomer at the British Street a Food Awards!

First stop, of course, was Nusou.

Proudly displaying their award as well as some blackboards to let everyone know they rock.

Whilst Mr Foodie was waiting on his order, I went along to Mighty Mexican for a 12″ burrito.

With everything on the order as well as some medium sauce (there was a selection of bottles)  I headed over to the on site London bus for some respite from the wind.

Everywhere should have an on site bus!

Inside we settled down to munch our food and we don’t think we’ve ever been on a London bus this clean and stylish!

Thai chicken broth

Then Thai Chicken Broth from Nusou – a fairly simple but hearty broth with lengthy glass/cellophane noodles.

The Mighty Mexican burrito was mighty fine.  Full of beans, rice, peppers, jalepenos as well as guacamole.  I was stuffed after this.

Thankfully we were aided along digestion by some bingo, eyes down!

Also here was a waffle stall – but the queue was too long for me, and Mr. Foodie had wandered off to see a Breaking Bread.

Having legs for a stomach, Mr Foodie had ordered the lamb tagine and by the time I’d wandered over from my queue was happily photographing it.

I’m glad he did, the smell was amazing. Full of spices and seasoning – delicious.

Then I spied someone’s order of a Halloumi Burger, so we had to have a taste of this!

More spice, squeaky Halloumi and a fluffy bun.  Thumbs up.

By this point we were rolling down the hill!  But Little Hippo burgers had made it all the way from Newcastle, well it would be rude not to try some! A quick natter, burger grabbed and off in the car it was.

Mr Foodie was silent for the rest of the trip, a good food sign.  We will have to head down to Jesmond to try them properly, however the smell and the quick bite I had was moist with a good spicy kick – chorizo and cheese on a burger is a great combo, why isn’t this more common?

Future dates for Glasgow and beyond…

We we had a quick visit and enjoyed ourselves – bingo, places to sit, stall holders to chat to and of course the food.  Get along to the next one, we will.
