Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder

Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder Hey hey hey! How are you my dear readers (if you’re still there)? I know it’s been forever since my last product review; I was so busy at school (I will be graduating this November, finally!) that I don’t have enough time to write at all. But let’s skip that because I have something better to share – Althea Korea’s very own Petal Velvet Powder.
When I received an email telling me to be the first few to try Althea Petal Velvet Powder, I felt really lucky – that’s an offer I cannot refuse! I received it last month, but didn’t get to try it immediately until last week, and boy I am SHOOKT! I asked myself why I didn’t use it sooner. Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder Product Info Althea Petal Velvet Powder Price: Php210 Where to buy: Althea PH (http://ph.althea.kr/petal-velvet-powder) Althea Says:Althea's very own product range is here, and we're starting off strong with the Petal Velvet Powder! This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent. Keep your makeup looking great all day or dust some on to stay shine-free! Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder Packaging There’s nothing fancy with Petal Velvet Powder’s packaging. It comes in a pink and white container and powder puff that comes with it. The design is simple yet cool. Althea’s logo, the one you see on their boxes, is also printed on the powder’s lid and puff. Its box is like this miniature version of their signature Althea box. Cute and simple. It actually reminds me of Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder, but in pink. I think they are also of the same size – compact and travel friendly.  Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder Performance
Like I said, I was shooked the first time I swatched it on. I was expecting the same performance as Innisfree’s No Sebum, but this one is on a totally different level. It has indeed micro-fine and smooth texture making it easier to blend. I tried to use it alone, and as setting powder to my foundation and it works well, both ways. It’s also translucent so it won’t affect the shade of your foundation compared to the other Korean powder brands that are too light to match the Filipino skin tone.
This powder is also very lightweight and instantly makes my skin look fresh. Whenever I use it to set my foundation, I don’t have to worry about retouching for the next 5 to 6 hours because it controls oil really well. And it doesn’t cause caking. I recommend using a brush when applying it, though, as the puff can sometimes give too much product.  Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder The Before photo above is me after I got home from school. My foundation is almost gone after 8 hours without touch ups. You can see how shiny the bridge of my nose and my eyelids are; my cheeks, not so much. That’s the first time I used Althea’s Petal Velvet Powder. I was shookt how my face instantly transformed from an oily mess to a fresher look like I just got my makeup done. My pores’ visibility lessened too! Did I mention that it smells great? No? Well, it does, like a mixture of all flowers combined in one – calming, relaxing, without being overwhelming.
Review: Althea Petal Velvet Powder
Overall, this powder is something everyone has to try. It works for oily skin, dry skin, and normal skin. I’m not sure about sensitive skin, though. But if you are looking for a setting powder that works wonders, then give Althea Petal Velvet Powder a try. You will not regret it, I swear. Most of all, it is cruelty free.
Before I end this post, here's an obligatory selfie I took using Althea Petal Velvet Powder under Maybelline FitMe! Concealer and Pressed Powder (Read First Impression on Maybelline Fit Me Collection). Celeteque Eyebrow Defining Kit for my brows and L'Oreal Rouge Magique in Mont Blanc for my lips.
