Review about Samsung Galaxy A54 5G. New generations of the Galaxy A are under a lot of strain because previous models have been among the best-selling smartphones globally. The A53 from last year was a huge letdown, but Samsung is back on track with the A54 for 2023.
Actually, not much has changed from year to year, but the slow CPU of the A53 has received a significant update, which is one of the reasons the Galaxy A54 is a top mid-ranger. Here’s Review about Samsung Galaxy A54. Here’s Review about Samsung Galaxy A54.
Review about Samsung Galaxy A54 5G:
This candy bar-shaped smartphone costs $449 (£449) and has the premium design of Samsung’s Galaxy S23 line. It also boasts a great screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a long-lasting battery, dependable cameras, and the best software in the business. Here’s Review about Samsung Galaxy A54.
Although Samsung lags behind a number of competitors in terms of charging speeds, and the absence of a charger in the package may annoy some customers, there isn’t much to complain about here. Nonetheless, it faces stiff competition from devices like the Google Pixel 6a and Nothing Phone (1), which continue to be strong temptations for those who aren’t devoted to Samsung.

Design & build:
- S23 style
- Plastic back
- IP67 protection
One of the most attractive mid-range smartphones available is the samsung a54, which has a sleek design. Although it shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor in terms of appearance, it stands out because of subtle upgrades like more rounded corners that are in keeping with the premium S23 series.
Whether you like the new camera setup or not is a matter of personal opinion, but I enjoy the port-hole style, even though it irritates me how unstable the phone becomes when it’s on a flat surface (it’s practically unusable). Here’s Review about Samsung Galaxy A54.
From across the room, the phone genuinely appears to be the Galaxy S23+, and the illusion persists until you look into the finer points. Although the latter doesn’t feel like it, the rear cover and frame are made of plastic, and there is still Gorilla Glass 5 protecting the display.
Similar to the S23, it has a slippery exterior, but it has the excellent build quality and is one of the few mid-range phones to have an IP67 classification for water and dust protection.
It’s unfortunate that the phone now weighs 202g, up 13g from the A53. Although it’s not particularly heavy, the Google Pixel 6a weighs 178g, which is much more manageable.
I tested the A54 in the basic Awesome Black color, but you can also purchase it in the more enticing Amazing White, Awesome Lime, and Awesome Violet flavors. Just Graphite (black) and Violet are available in the official US store; both are still, of course, called Fantastic. Here’s Review about Samsung Galaxy A54 screen & speakers.
Screen & speakers:
- Screen & speakers
- 6.4in AMOLED
- 120Hz refresh rate
- Stereo speakers
Although Samsung has slightly decreased the screen size to 6.4 inches, the display specifications are largely the same as those of the Galaxy A53. The main features are that it is an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution.
The display is gifted with superb colors and contrast, as you’d expect from an AMOLED panel, and is bright enough for outdoor use in harsh sunshine.
A fingerprint scanner that is integrated into the display is also advantageous and, in my experience, performs better than the one on the Galaxy S23. You may unlock using either good facial recognition or fingerprint recognition.
With an adaptive mode by default or the option to cap it at 60Hz for longer battery life (though that’s often not an issue), the A54 remains one of the smoothest mid-rangers at 120Hz. The Pixel 6a and other notable competitors, like Xiaomi, also offer 120Hz phones for this pricing, but they only support 60Hz.
Although the A54 lacks a headphone port, its dual speakers are fairly strong, providing high velocity and clarity. Yet, the bass is lacking.
Specs & performance:
- Exynos 1380 chip
- US options are limited on RAM and storage
- MicroSD card slot
Even on a mid-range phone, a single number change in the CPU model may not seem like much, but in this case, it is.
The Galaxy A54 is fast and dependable thanks to an upgrade to the Exynos 1380, which has twice as many high-power performance cores as its predecessor and replaces the Exynos 1280 seen in the Galaxy A53 from a year ago.
I won’t claim that it’s faultless, so you could have to wait a long for a demanding game to load or a complicated night photo to process, but these are really demanded a phone at this price. The phone can generally keep up with daily tasks and even play games like Asphalt 9 in high-quality settings.
Customers in the United States will be disappointed because there is only the option of 128GB storage and 6GB of RAM, but 256GB storage and 8GB of RAM are available in the UK and other markets. Please take note that I am testing the UK model, therefore the US version might be a little slower.
The Galaxy A54 5G has 5G connectivity, as the name suggests, in addition to all the standard features like NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3.
Review about Samsung Galaxy A54Although it takes up one SIM slot, the dual-SIM feature and microSD card slot, which can hold up to 1TB of storage, may be useful to some customers.
Here is how the Galaxy A54 compares to our typical set of criteria if you’re curious. Here’s Review about Samsung Galaxy A54 cameras.
Cameras:
- 50Mp main camera
- 12Mp ultrawide
- 5Mp macro
- 32Mp selfies
A 50Mp primary lens and lower resolution ultrawide and macro cameras round out the A54’s rather standard trio of rear cameras. On a phone this expensive, you shouldn’t anticipate features like telephoto lenses.
The primary camera can take photographs of great quality in a variety of settings. Its f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS) help to reduce blur caused by shaky hands.
Outcomes are vivid, detailed, and more than suitable for printing out or posting on social media. Although the phone still has its limitations in this area, low-light performance is better than other mid-range phones. You’ll need to spend more money on a flagship to get genuinely amazing night-mode images.
As expected, the ultrawide is useful when you need to fit more in the frame but obviously sacrifices quality when compared to the primary shooter.
The macro lens is one of the best I’ve tested on a phone, and I had a tonne of fun with it. You can take some beautiful pictures with a fixed focus, but you’ll need patience and time (I’ve included identical views from the main camera to demonstrate the difference). Although it’s not necessary, it gives you some enjoyable possibilities.
The Samsung tuning is my biggest pet peeve because colors aren’t consistently true across different cameras. With a mid-range phone, I can overlook that (it’s not too horrible), but I absolutely cannot take it.
The 32Mp selfie camera on the front is a standout feature, offering a tonne of clarity and features including a reliable portrait mode and a wider angle view to fit more people or backdrop in.
Review about Samsung Galaxy A54The main camera’s OIS plays a big role in the excellent quality of the video recording. By default, you’ll be recording in Full HD at 30 frames per second, but you may increase the resolution to 4K if you’d like. The quality is good even at 1080p, with vivid colors and fluid footage—even while my dog is dragging me along.
Battery life & charging:
- 5000mAh battery
- 25W charging
- No adapter included
Comparing Samsung to the larger market, charging is still an issue, especially when you consider that brands like Xiaomi and Oppo are currently achieving speeds of over 200W. For better or worse, Samsung doesn’t include a wall converter in the box with the A54; instead, only a cable is included. The 25W charging on the A54 isn’t especially modern.
When I used a 67W fast charger from a different manufacturer to test the phone, it would only charge 16% in 15 minutes and 31% in 30. You’ll need to search elsewhere if quick charging is vital to you.
Fortunately, when we consider the battery life on offer, things become better. The phone has a sizable 5000mAh battery and may easily survive an entire day of mixed-use.
Software & apps:
- Android 13
- One UI 5.1
- Four years of OS upgrades
Both mid-range and flagship phones include great software from Samsung. You are getting the most recent Android version with the company’s One UI skin here. Contrary to popular belief, several competitors frequently fall behind on Android 12.
Such competitors frequently lack any sworn assurance of upcoming improvements. However, Samsung guarantees four years of OS updates, meaning this phone will at least support Android 17 and possibly as much as Android 14.
For the pure Android experience, I would still prefer a Pixel phone, but One UI is quite functional and has a lot going for it. It looks fantastic and is simple to browse. But, Bixby, the virtual assistant, is not as handy as features like the sidebar for favorite apps.
Samsung continues to insist on pre-installing a large number of apps, many of which are clones of Google services you are more likely to utilize. Yet despite my efforts to uncheck the boxes, the A54 insolently proceeded to install three unwelcome games.

Some pre-installed apps, like Disney+, TikTok, and OneDrive, maybe more useful, but you can at least delete those that you don’t want.
Price & availability:
The price of the Galaxy A54 in the US is $449, and as of this writing, there is only one variant with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM available from the official shop. Together with trade-in discounts, incentives like three months of Spotify Premium, and trade-in bargains, you can also acquire Galaxy Buds Live for $100 less. If you only need the phone, Amazon provides lower costs.
If you live in the UK, you can get the phone for £449 (£50 more than the A53 when it first launched), with a 256GB model going for £499. You receive 8GB of memory in either case.
There are many retailers that sell it, including Amazon, John Lewis, Very, and Currys, and many are giving out free Galaxy Buds 2 through April 25. In addition to matching that offer, Samsung offers fantastic incentives including outstanding trade-in values for your old phone.

Given that the Google Pixel 6a costs $449/£399 and is frequently on sale, the price puts it up against some fierce competition. The Nothing Phone (1) costs £399 as well.
