Ben Edlund is best known by “Supernatural” fans for his wacky and dark comedic scripts, usually punctuated with stellar character exploration. In that sense, he is the natural heir to the throne previously held by Darin Morgan. But fans of “Angel” are well aware that Edlund has the capability of pulling off some amazing dramatic material as well, and this episode displays that side of his talent beautifully.
