REVEALED: Let’s hire a Glaswegian James Bond for future films

Twenty-five films and 63 years later, James Bond is still as iconic now as it was when it first came to fame on the big screen in 1962.

The portrayal of Bond was initially acted by Sean Connery, one of the most famous Scottish actors in the past six decades.

Online casino site, Heart Bingo, recently conducted a poll to find out if a Scottish James Bond would be as popular in the future. Read on to find out more!

Glasgow leads the way

As we said previously, Connery has been the flagbearer for James Bond actors since he starred in its debut film, Dr No, in 1962. Little did anyone know that Bond would go on to become a worldwide institution and global star well into the 21st century. However, when asked what UK city the next Bond should hail from, our survey says that viewers would love to go back to the roots of the original and a Scottish actor of some acclaim should be signed up. So, Glasgow tops the bill with 23.11% of the vote, followed by Birmingham (13.94%) and Liverpool (13.15%).

Aston Martin is miles out in front

Over the previous 25 movies, Bond has been handed an array of gadgets and hi-tech equipment to ward off any villains who stand his way to help the greater good. The Walther PPK with fingerprint recognition is one of the most recent, exhibited in Skyfall, but we can’t look past his most prized possession – his Aston Martin DB5, equipped with ejector seats, machine guns and other tricks has won this vote with a whopping 37.85% ahead of the Golden Gun (14.34%) and jetpack from Thunderball (7.57%).

Gen-X for the next male Bond

All six James Bond actors spanning 63 years haven’t all been in that Gen-X bracket between 35-50. Both Sean Connery and George Lazenby were younger than 35 but Connery made the role his own before hitting that Gen-X age. Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton were well into their 40s before reprising the role but the Gen-X tops the list with 62.14% of the vote ahead of Millennial (32.1%) and Baby Boomer (5.76%).

Bond in Britain – yes please!

James Bond movies have been filmed all over the world. From Europe to Asia, to America and to Africa, this film franchise has been here, there and everywhere. However, thanks to its British origin, a huge 80.08% of film buffs want to see a James Bond that is filmed and set just in the UK, enhancing its roots.
