Over the past six decades, James Bond has been depicted by a Scotsman, an Irishman, a Welshman and once by an Australian but also by suave Englishmen including Roger Moore and Daniel Craig.

London is an overwhelming winner

The six actors who have reprised James Bond have come from different parts of the world. With George Lazenby’s Australian roots, Sean Connery’s stoic Scottish outlook and Timothy Dalton’s Welsh background, Bond has been a diverse character on screen for the past 63 years. However, when narrowing it down to just areas in the UK, our survey predicts that a Londoner would make the best James Bond, with a huge 48.21% of the vote, eclipsing Scotland (13.55%) into second and the Midlands (10.76%) into third place. A runaway winner revealed!

A nod to Britain makes Bond films so unique

Many different areas of the big screen are captured whenever Bond comes onto film. Whether it be the special effects, which have truly grown into a spectacular show in recent times, or a brilliant cast full of Hollywood stars, the list is endless. However, the survey shows that what makes Bond films so unique is the nod to its British legacy. Bond’s original creator, Ian Fleming, was a proud Englishman and kept his books full of patronage, including Bond’s car, the much-acclaimed Aston Martin. This picked up 30.28% of the vote, with the action second at 17.53% and Bond’s heritage third at 15.54%.

Skyfall’s spectacular special effects!

A major part of any Bond film are the special effects. As technology has evolved, so have the effects which are laden with up-to-date technology and shoots. Skyfall, released in 2012, comes out a comfortable winner when asked what Bond movie showcases the best special effects. From the CG Komodo Dragon to the helicopter crashing into Skyfall Manor, the effects are truly jawdropping! Tomorrow Never Dies came second with 21.12% of the vote and Casino Royale third with 15.54%.

Would random members of the public make a good Bond?

Just a final yes or no question to answer – with a narrow win going to “No” when asked would a random person make a good Bond or Bond villain. The Nos came out with 44.62% of the vote, beating the Yes with 43.03%, whilst 12% were undecided.
